The closer i get to a very "independent" life (as independent as a college student can get these days), the more i dislike it. I mean it has its perks, no doubt, but looking at the tradeoff, i dont think its very fair. So i'm going to lay it out to put things into perspective.
Things we could do as kids that we can no longer do*
- sit in the seat in a shopping cart
- play in the bathtub with friends
- wear matching spongebob shirts with your best friend every monday that said "Monday already?"
- grab chocolate milk in the grocery store, drink it, your mom has to buy it
- wet the bed
- get away with not knowing left from right
- wear super cute pigtails
- jump on beds
- go to bed at 8 pm
- hide under beds
- and much much more....
Now, I want to make it clear that i do enjoy being an almost twenty year-old, but there are some things that come with being an almost twenty year-old that just arent fun.
Like:
- homework
- jobs
- money
- student loans
- responsibility
Bleh!
And of course when we were young all we wanted was to be older! So we could stay up late, and do whatever we wanted!
Don't get me wrong, i love staying up late! But, i don't like getting older.
Responsibilities?! ewww!!
*we could technically do these things as adults too, but there are some physical limitations, and social norms we'd be crossing (who cares about social norms anyways!). Lets just say for arguments sake
